Meet the Horses

MVEC has a number of lesson horses for those riders who do not own their own horse or for those clients looking to further their riding on a different horse. The horses range in age, experience and training to provide a diverse range of options for riders. Each horse is schooled on a regular basis which helps ensure happy, educated horses for the program. We make our horses' care a top priority.

Pumba is a 20 y/o Quarter horse who is worth his weight in gold! He is a quiet, steady soul who is able to help the smallest of riders learn the basics as well as help those riders who are overcoming fear. For more advanced riders, he is able to teach them the beginnings of proper contact as well as lateral work. An accomplished beginner novice packer, he is a steady mount when it comes to jumping courses.

  • Ranked 3rd in the US in 2009 in the Beginner Novice Division for the USEA

Gizmo is a 12 year old paint cross who has joined the MVEC family. Gizmo is full of personality and spunk! He is super game to try anything new and loves to trail ride. He completed his first rated event this fall and had a blast. Gizmo is working on his dressage foundation and loves to show off. Gizmo sports a beautiful multi-colored tail which earned him the show name "Swish- N -Flick".

Squirtle is easily the cutest member of the MVEC family! (Just don't let the others hear that) He may be small at only 12hh tall but he is mighty! He thinks he's one of the big horses. Now at 9 years old, Kate has started and trained him from the age of 3. He is a perfect little pony and has started many new riders. He can w/t/c quietly under saddle and on the lunge line. He jumps consistently at 2'.  Squirtle loves to compete and has several seasons competing at the elementary level of eventing.

Bailey is a 20 y/o OTTB who was a Novice packer in his younger years. An avid teacher of balance, correct striding and patience for many years, Bailey now has retired to mainly trail riding. He is the perfect horse to teach younger horses how to be confident on the trail and in the great outdoors!

Airborne is the tallest of the crew standing at 17hh and tends to draw attention when out competing due to his large presence. He is another OTTB and Kate's main competition horse. Despite the fact that he actively competes at the Preliminary level in eventing, he is a proven lesson horse for beginner to advanced riders. He is quiet on the lunge line and is a well-behaved for riders as they focus on further developing their seats. He can even be found doing w/t lessons on a busy Saturday!

Winter Solstice aka  Sully is a 8 year old Thoroughbred cross who stands around 16h tall. Sully is a sweet soul who is quiet enough for the smallest of riders  while being a fun ride for more advanced riders. He joined the MVEC family this past year and has already proven to be a valuable new addition to the program. A cute natural jumper, it will be fun to see him progress this winter as he builds a greater education.

Duchess is a 16 year old Morgan Cross, who as one of the few mares in the program, is constantly showing up the geldings! She has competed successfully at the Novice level of eventing for many years. Duchess is  a dependable partner who has introduced countless riders to the eventing. A very talented jumper, she is a force to be reckoned with!

Charmer is a 12 year old Paint Draft Cross who may actually think he is a big puppy dog! He came to us with the name "Charmer" and certainly lives up to it! Standing around 16.2hh he is a large horse but is gentle enough for even the smallest riders.  Charmer loves treats and can stand for attention for hours. Charmer has proven to be happier with a single rider that he can trust and bond with. Therefore Charmer is currently available for sale or lease to the right person, please contact for more information.

Eclipse has really thrived since he has transitioned into the program this past fall and has quickly become a barn favorite. He is a Quarter Horse Cross, 15.1 h and around 11 years old. He has smooth gaits and a forward mind which makes him a super fun ride. He is overall an extremely happy horse which makes him very easy to work with. He is great for lunge lessons, trail riding and is working on his dressage skills. He is a quick learn and is a very rewarding ride as he aims to please. He is appropriate for all levels of riders.

Benson is a 10 year old Warmblood gelding who is super fancy and flashy in everything he does! He is a big guy who has found a questionable best friend in Jack! Benson has extensive jumping experience and enjoys riding outside the ring. He is a big powerful horse who is now learning the basis of dressage and self- carriage.
